In response to the unprecedented need created by the COVID-19 crisis, GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world, is organizing #GivingTuesdayNow.

On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, this international campaign is aimed at driving an influx of grassroots generosity, civic engagement, and action from businesses and philanthropy to support communities and nonprofits around the world.

The corporate sector, especially, is called to action on this global day of giving and unity. Consider the following ideas for how your company can get involved on this #GivingTuesdayNow:

Support Nonprofits through Corporate Funding of Operational Support

Consider donating operation support funding versus restricted funding in response to this crisis, especially to organizations on the front lines of this pandemic. Remember to also show your support for local nonprofits, who despite COVID-19 are continuing to provide much needed services to the community.

Match Donations and Get Both Your Employees + Customers Involved

Encourage your employees and your customers to donate on this #GivingTuesdayNow and match their donation to encourage generosity.

Donate Your Product to People in Need

From producers of PPE contributing equipment to hospitals to potato farmers giving away surplus crops, we have seen the wave of generosity growing rapidly. Consider what in-kind support your company might be able to contribute to crisis management and recovery.

Use Your Brand for Good

Amplify the message of your signature nonprofit partners to show how they are leading in the response to COVID-19. Share your story by using the #GivingTuesdayNow and pining your company's community support efforts on the global map of generosity.

Encourage Employees to Volunteer

In addition to giving financially, your employees can give their time safely by volunteering virtually from home. Focus on acts of kindness versus traditional forms of volunteering. By helping raise awareness, lending talents to give pro bono hours to a nonprofit who needs expertise, volunteering to teach a friend's children, or taking an hour to call a senior who may be alone, everyone can help.

See our recommended list of virtual opportunities here.

Please note: #GivingTuesdayNow will not replace the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday –  rather May 5, 2020 will serve as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
