Bea Boccalandro, VeraWorks

Bea Boccalandro helps people mess with their jobs for good. Specifically, Bea works with Aetna, Allstate, Caesars Entertainment, Disney, FedEx, HP, IBM, Levi’s, PwC, Toyota and many other brands to increase the social impact of jobs. “Job purposing” as this practice is called, has been shown to heighten employee engagement, performance and wellbeing while alleviating hunger, poverty, environmental degradation and other societal issues.

Bea is founder and president of VeraWorks, a global firm that helps businesses job purpose or otherwise support the community. She is also author of the Job Purposing blog, teaches corporate community involvement at Georgetown University and is a frequent keynote speaker.

When not delivering presentations or helping brands increase workplace purpose, Bea surfs (poorly), snowboards (a little better) or draws cartoons of innocent people (you’ve been warned).  Subscribe to Bea’s newsletter, read her blog or follow her on Twitter or LinkedIn.

Today’s organizations must stand for something beyond profits. They need a mission that animates their every move, a purpose that inspires the full spectrum of stakeholders (employees, customers, communities, and suppliers) to engage deeply with the organization, advocate for it, buy from it, and when needed, even defend it. Brands and non-profits alike must build purpose into the core of their business strategy, not bolt it on as a marketing tactic. Our transparent world requires it.

For more than 30 years, Carol Cone’s name has been synonymous with cause marketing, CSR, and purpose programs. Now, tapping into that experience and a dynamic network that encompasses the world’s leading purpose experts, she has created a new consultancy: Carol Cone ON PURPOSE. Our mission is to inspire, create, curate, disrupt, and ultimately develop a world of good. We build custom solutions for organizations/brands in strategy, innovation, research, social engagement, partnerships, sustainability, marketing, and measurement. We deliver it all through our handpicked expert network called The Purpose Collaborative, which includes top boutiques, agencies, creative consultants, millennial gurus, and technologists who bring compelling and thought-provoking purpose solutions to every challenge.

For over 50 years, IAVE – the  International Association for Volunteer Effort  – has been bringing together leaders and advocates for volunteering from across the world. We work with individuals, organizations and companies on the local, national, regional and global levels, supporting their growth and impact so their activities can achieve progress toward solving society’s most pressing problems. IAVE’s mission is to create a more just and sustainable work by enabling the leaders, organizations and environments that empower volunteers. Guided by this mission, we operate under core functions:

Advocacy. IAVE advocates for the global recognition of volunteering as vital to the creation of a just and sustainable world. We strive for equity and a diverse share of voice to include volunteering leaders and organizations and to create an enabling and empowering environment for global volunteering.

Knowledge Creation and Sharing. IAVE advances volunteering’s global practice, efficacy, representation, and influence by generating an evidence base around effective volunteering at the individual, organizational and societal level. We connect and convene people together to share experience, expertise, and ideas. We are recognized as sector thought leaders and generously share our data and evidence broadly.

Leadership Development. IAVE creates spaces which affirm and grow a global culture of volunteering, giving recognition to the importance of volunteers enhancing social cohesion.
